Regular meetings are held on the 4th Friday of every month from September through June, except as noted below. Doors open at 6:00p.m. Arrive early for special sign-ups. Meetings start at 6:30p.m. in the Carmen Miranda Room at La Hacienda Center, except as noted below. Dues are $5.00 per year.
50/50 drawings and "Didja know" Brooklyn trivia will be held at the end of every meeting.
Members must wear their badges. Guests pay a $5.00 admission fee to attend any meeting.
September 24, 2010 (La Hacienda Center): BROOKLYNITES!!! WELCOME BACK TO THE SENIOR-MINUTE-TO-WIN-IT SHOW!!! Join us for an evening of FUN, GAMES AND PRIZES.............JUST LIKE THE TV SHOW, BUT AIMED AT THE SPECIAL TALENTS OF THE BROOKLYNITES OF THE VILLAGES! BYOB. Coffee & dessert will be provided. ANNUAL DUES OF $5.00 PER MEMBER (FOR SEPTEMBER - JUNE) WILL BE COLLECTED. IF YOU MISS THIS MEETING, YOUR DUES WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE FIRST MEETING YOU ATTEND AND YOUR ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP WILL EXPIRE IN JUNE, 2011 (THE END OF OUR FISCAL YEAR). TRY TO ARRIVE AT LA HACIENDA AT 6:00 PM. THAT WILL GIVE YOU TIME TO SIGN UP FOR OUR TRIP TO THE HARD ROCK CASINO IN NOVEMBER AND OUR HOLIDAY PARTY IN DECEMBER (SEE BELOW).
October 22, 2010 (La Hacienda Center): Dance to the music of THE CARRIERS at our annual HOMECOMING DANCE! WE'LL HAVE OUR OWN BROOKLYN HOMECOMING COURT WITH THE QUEEN AND KING OF KING'S COUNTY! BYOB. MEMBERS WITH LAST NAMES BEGINNING WITH LETTERS "A" THROUGH "M" BRING DESSERTS TO SHARE.
*November 13 (SATURDAY): CANCELLED!!! BROOKLYN GOES TO THE HARD ROCK CASINO! We will take a ride to the Tampa casino and challenge the slot gods! Participation is open to Club members and their guests on a first-come, first-paid, first-served basis. Payment and sign-up is required by the October 22, 2010 meeting. The bus departs Spanish Springs Station at about 9:00 a.m. Please be there at 8:30 a.m. If everyone is there early, we'll leave early, but we depart at 9:00 a.m. in any case. (We'll be back by about 6:00 p.m.) Brooklyn Club members and their guests are invited. The cost is $20.00 per person and includes: round-trip bus fare, $25.00 in FREE play, and a $5.00 meal voucher.
November 26: THIS IS THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING. THERE WILL BE NO MEETING TONIGHT.
*December 3, 2010 (La Hacienda Center): Come and join us for the annual HAPPY HOLIDAYS IN BROOKLYN PARTY!!! We’ll dance to the music of THE SOUNDS OF TIME, sing along with holiday songs, and greet Santa himself. (Have a photo taken with Santa and send it to your grandchildren!) Dinner will be catered by the Oakwood Grill. The cost is $22.00 per person. Make reservations and payments at the September or October meeting. All tables seat 10 people. When you sign up, you will be placed at a specific table (so if you have guests or friends you want to sit with, be sure to sign up together). All Brooklyn Club members and their guests are invited (as long as seats are available).
December 24: THIS IS CHRISTMAS EVE. THERE WILL BE NO MEETING TONIGHT.
January 28, 2011 (NOTE LOCATION CHANGE: SEA BREEZE RECREATION CENTER, THE PONTE VEDRA ROOM): We’re in for a real treat tonight! MARY JO VITALE, a talented and versatile song stylist, will return and entertain us with a variety of musical selections. BYOB. MEMBERS WITH LAST NAMES BEGINNING WITH LETTERS "N" THROUGH "Z" BRING DESSERTS TO SHARE. Reservations and payments will be taken for the March outing to Tampa Bay Downs. (See below.) SEATS ARE LIMITED. ONLY ONE BUS HAS BEEN CHARTERED.
February 25, 2011 (La Hacienda Center): The “Prima Donna” of The Villages, DONNA MOORE, performs in Brooklyn once again. Her musical selections and style are among the most popular in The Villages and beyond. BYOB. WE'LL PROVIDE COFFEE AND TEA. A SAM'S CLUB REPRESENTATIVE WILL BRING DESSERT AND WILL OFFER MEMBERS A CHANCE TO RENEW THEIR SAM'S CLUB MEMBERSHIP AND RECEIVE A $10.00 GIFT CARD! Reservations and payments will be taken for the March outing to Tampa Bay Downs. (See below.) SEATS ARE LIMITED. ONLY ONE BUS HAS BEEN CHARTERED. NO RESERVATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS MEETING.
*March 13, 2011: The bus for our outing to TAMPA BAY DOWNS RACETRACK departs Spanish Springs Station by 9:00 a.m. Please be there at 8:30 a.m. If everyone is there early, we'll leave early, but we depart at 9:00 a.m. in any case. (We'll be back by about 7:00 p.m.) Brooklyn Club members and their guests are invited. The cost is $40.00 per person and includes: round-trip bus fare, admission to the track, the racing program for the day, a hot buffet lunch, and reserved seating in the clubhouse for our group. (NOTE THAT TAMPA BAY DOWNS WILL ADMIT NO ONE WEARING SHORTS OR A SKORT AND MEN MUST WEAR COLLARED SHIRTS........GOLF SHIRTS ARE FINE. ALSO, NO FOOD OR BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED ON THE BUS.
March 25, 2011 (La Hacienda Center) – IT'S DERBY NIGHT IN BROOKLYN!!! COME TO THE RACES AND BET YOUR FAVORITE PONIES.........OR DON'T BET AND JUST ENJOY A BAGEL WITH A SCHMEAR. SHARE AN EVENING OF FUN AND LAUGHTER WITH YOUR FRIENDS FROM BROOKLYN. WE'LL PROVIDE THE BAGELS & CREAM CHEESE!!! BYOB. MEMBERS WITH LAST NAMES BEGINNING WITH LETTERS "A" THROUGH "M" WILL ALSO BRING DESSERTS TO SHARE. ELECTIONS FOR THE NEW BOARD MEMBERS WILL BE HELD PRIOR TO THE RACES. THE NEW BOARD WILL TAKE OFFICE FOLLOWING THE JUNE MEETING AND SERVE FOR TWO YEARS.
April 22, 2011: IN SUPPORT OF THE "RELAY FOR LIFE" RALLY, SCHEDULED FOR THIS DATE, THERE WILL BE NO MEETING THIS MONTH. WE ARE EXPLORING OTHER ACTIVITIES (A LUNCHEON CRUISE ON A NEARBY LAKE/RIVER?) THAT MIGHT BE SCHEDULED ON ANOTHER DAY.
WE HAVE NOW (JANUARY )BEEN INFORMED THAT RELAY FOR LIFE WILL HOLD ITS FUNDRAISER ON A DIFFERENT DATE. AS OF TODAY, WE HAVE NO PLANS TO HOLD A MEETING ON Good Friday, 4/22/11.

June 24, 2011 - (La Hacienda Center) - THE "THANKS TO THE BOARD AND VOLUNTEERS" BINGO AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL. THE BOARD AND VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE THE "ICE CREAM"; YOU PROVIDE THE "SOCIAL." BYOB. This will be our last meeting for the summer. See you in September!
